3 Steps to Healthy Skin

Brooke Lindsay 29/02/2016

Having healthy skin is every girl and boys dream! Wouldn’t it be nice not to worry about acne, large pores, discolouration, wrinkles and the list goes on. Unfortunately, it’s rare that we are blessed with perfect skin; we have to work for it.

We all go through bad skin at some point in our lives and it can be embarrassing, painful and downright annoying. Thankfully most problems are easily dealt with if you’re willing to put some time and effort into caring for your skin. Here are my top three tips on how to care for your skin and achieve healthy, glowing perfection!

1. Establish a Routine

Having a skin care routine that you follow each day is essential. Establish a skincare routine that works well for you. Everybody’s skin is unique and establishing a skincare routine that works well for you is important.

I’ve established I have very sensitive skin. I can’t use any harsh soaps or face wash because it will cause me to break out, but what works for me may not work the same for you. If you can’t establish what skin type you are yourself consider going to see a skin care professional.

2. Wash your face

Washing your face is an important step in any skincare routine as it cleans away any dirt, bacteria or trace of makeup left on the skin. Wash your face twice a day, anything more is overkill.

A lot of people believe the more you wash your face the cleaner it will be but this is not the case. Over washing your face will leave you skin dry, irritated and your skin will overproduce oils to try and replenish the skin, causing breakouts.

3. Hydration

Staying hydrated is an important part of any skincare routine. As you’re probably aware your skin is primarily composed of water so it is important to flush your system of any bad toxins. The best way to do this is to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

Drinking plenty of water will ensure your skin stays soft, supple and moisturised. If you’re not drinking enough water your skin can become dehydrated, tight and flaky. Over time this can lead to the appearance of wrinkles and we don’t want that, so drink up!
