Are you in a fashion rut? Nowadays, it’s common to put our families and jobs before our appearance. However, looking your best shouldn’t be the last thing on your priorities. Not only will you feel more confident, studies show being a polished dresser could help us get ahead in the workplace!

Each individual has their own style and there are many different trends to follow. One of them is ‘minimalist chic’. One of easiest styles to master, it’s always in fashion and has an elegant Parisian feel. A minimalist look presents clean lines, solid colours and an overall ‘fresh’ appearance. Basics are the foundation of this style – think a plain white tee with a pair of ripped blue jeans and pointed nude stilettos. You’d be surprised how much you can dress up or dress down this chic look.

Here are the absolute essentials you should have in your closet for this easy, go-to summer look.

1) Blazers

Nothing ads instant chic like a well-fitting blazer. In summer, throw it over a pair of denim shorts and a white tank to add a hint of elegance. Wear the blazer over t-shirts, summer dresses or jeans to complete your look. Start off with neutral colours like white, black or nude – they go with almost everything!

2) Plain tees

A staple item for a chic wardrobe. Plain t-shirts go great with jeans, shorts or tucked loosely into a pencil skirt. I love the relaxed v-neck styles - these do wonders to accentuate your chest and look very feminine! Find the cut that best suits you and stock up on a bunch of basic colours.

3) Simple stilettos

Sure, glitter and florals are all the rage this time of year. However, nothing beats a simple, nude pump! This style covers you for every season and nearly every occasion. Whether you’re going to work, out to drinks or out on a date – basic stilettos never go out of style.

4) Accessories

The one great thing about a ‘minimalist’ look is that it’s so easy to dress up or down, with the right accessories. Use solid colours as your outfit building block and decorate it with some bling! It’s easy to become over-excited over shiny things so stick to accentuating one area at a time. Remember, if you’re wearing statement earrings put down the chunky necklace! Instead, opt for a gorgeous statement watch and rings to top off your outfit.

Good luck!
