What is hair extension weft / weave: Hair extensions weft / weave are simply a curtain of hair used to layer in to your own hair to add colour, length and or volume. Weaves can alter one's appearance for long or short periods of time by adding further hair to one's natural hair or by covering the natural hair all together with human or synthetic hair pieces. Weaving additional human or synthetic pieces can enhance one's hair by giving it volume, length and adding colour without the damage of chemicals or adopting a different hair texture than that of their own.
Colouring hair extensions weave : Do not use permanent colour or perm on hair extension. Most hair extensions on the market have undergone some chemical processes such as lightening and tinting. If dyeing is necessary use semi-permanent colouring with the maximum peroxide strength of 4%. Do not attempt to lighten extension hair. Always dye it to a darker tone.
Brushing hair extensions weave : Prevention of tangles is the single most important aspect of hair extension. Brush the hair on a regular basis using soft bristle brush. Do not backcomb or back brush the extension weave. Always brush the extension from the end and gently work your way up.
Cleansing and styling hair extensions weave : Shampoo the hair weave twice a week. When shampooing, do not scrub the hair weave excessively. Massage the scalp and gently work the shampoo to the ends. Rinse hair weave thoroughly and apply reconstructive conditioner.
It is important to use reconstructive conditioner since the hair has been chemically treated. These conditioners are designed to work on the inside of the hair shaft to strengthen it. Rinse the hair weave again and apply a leave-in treatment to promote a healthy hair cuticle and help the detangling and styling of the hair weave. Never dry your hair with scrubbing action. Instead, wrap the hair weave with a towel to absorb the water. Never go to bed with wet hair weave. Dry your hair and put it into a big loose braid before sleeping.
