The 2015 Reid Osprey Elite is an upgrade over the standard Reid Osprey Road Bike, using the same outstanding frame and fork, but upgrading the gearing with the latest 2015 Shimano Sora shifters, derailleurs and triple-chainrings for a wider range of gears. Stepping up to the Reid Osprey Elite will allow you to experience the speed and efficiency of a high-end road bike at a very affordable price. It has triple crankset and a 9-speed cassette to give you a huge range of gears to flatten the hills and overcome the headwinds without sacrificing top-end speed. It's perfect for all-day epic rides, hill climbing, training rides, touring and commuting. Its rack and mudguard mounts mean that you can easily set it up with a rear rack and panniers.
The 6061 aluminium alloy frame comes four sizes to give you a great fit. The frame is light, yet has excellent lateral stiffness for power in the sprints and the climbs. The carbon fibre fork provides a degree of vertical compliance to reduce road buzz while still giving precise handling. The Alex double-walled aluminium alloy rims are light and strong. They're tough enough to suit an every day commuter or tourer, but light enough to enjoy long distance endurance rides or hill climbs. The Quando hubs are serviceable and adjustable for exceptional durability. The Shimano Sora 30/39/50 tooth crankset is essentially a road compact crankset, with the addition of an extra, super low gear range for climbing serious hills with a load. Combined with a 12 to 15 tooth 9-speed rear cluster this gives a wide, evenly spaced range of gears. Shimano Sora shifters and derailleurs give outstanding reliability and performance. The Tektro dual-pivot alloy caliper brakes provide great stopping power, excellent modulation and easy adjustment. Integrated brake and gear levers (Shimano STI) means that you can brake and change gears without moving your hands from the hoods of the dropbars. Sealed bearings in the bottom bracket and a threadless 1-1/8 inch headset make for minimal maintenance.
