It’s the most magical time of the year. No, not Christmas; Halloween! Halloween parties are a great time to dress up, act a fool and spend some time with your friends. Whether you’re a fan of dressing up as a zombie, Daenerys or you end up drawing some whiskers on your face with eyeliner and calling yourself a cat (you know who you are), a great Halloween party always go down well. So, get your ooky spooky self ready, because here is how you can host the best Halloween party ever.
Organise The Night Early
Halloween parties aren’t like regular parties; there’s a lot of effort to put in. It’s best you send out the invitations to the party at least a month in advance, so everyone can get their costumes sorted. There’s nothing worse than seeing a bunch of people in white sheets saying they’re ghosts.
Hosting A Party With Family And Friends
Mandy Ferry from Party Remedy shares her party tricks. “If trick or treating isn't for you why not host a party. You get to choose who you want to come, have everyone dress up and celebrate the occasion. If you're hosting a kids Halloween party, you can host a number of games, apple bob, dress the mummy (using toilet paper), you could host crafting stations with colouring in or Halloween coloured beading. Obviously, there is a huge array of Halloween themed food options available all over the internet, cupcakes with themed cupcake toppers, and with guests arriving it's a great opportunity to decorate to your heart's content. Alternative if you don't want to host a party in your home, why not host a Street Party? Street parties are often held during the Christmas season, but people are super busy at this time of the year. So why not opt for something a little earlier and host a street party for Halloween. Each house could provide something for trick or treat and provide a plate for a BBQ.” Find out more about Party Remedy by following them on Facebook and Instagram.
Orange Isn’t Always The New Black
When you think of Halloween decorations, you don’t have to always go with the basic orange pumpkins, you can instead go with all black. A step up from traditional decorations, all black decor is not only a spooky option, but it’s also kinda classy. Think Edgar Allen Poe, think Wuthering Heights; 19th century gothic. Purples, gold, indigo and blacks are the colours that you can lay down across your space, giving it a sophisticated, yet spooky vibe. If you’re going all out, get yourself some lumina pumpkins (they’re white and mid-sized), and scatter them around the place. Looking a little bit like skulls, you can place them on your furniture, scatter them amongst your home decor and even use them as table decorations.
Kid’s Party Essentials
If you’re planning on making this Halloween party kid-friendly, Caroline Devlin from Mums Misbehaving shares her essential decor ideas. “Start with the pumpkins. You can save time by hollowing them out the day before so that they are softer to carve and you can make some excellent spooky punch bowls out of them with plenty of alcohol and spooky jelly sweets. You can even use dry ice to make them give off an eerie smoke effect. Your guests will be amazed with your creativity. Cobweb brownies are another favourite - just drizzle icing across them in a spider web effect for maximum fear.. a couple of little tarantulas on the plate for dressing and it's a win!” Find out more about Mums Misbehaving by following them on Facebook and Instagram.
