So you and your boo have been together for what seems like forever, and you think you’re ready to move in together. A huge decision to make, and an exciting one when it comes to be. So, when do you know that it’s the right time to join forces and buy a stylish sofa from MyDeal for two? Here are some signs that you’re ready to move in together.
You’re Basically Already Living Together
If you spend basically all your time together, it may be a sign that you two are ready to take the plunge and make it official. If you already have a toothbrush at their place, and you end up leaving half of your clothes at theirs, it may be a sign that you two are ready for the next move.
You’re Past The Honeymoon Phase
This phase is lovely, but it rarely lasts. Once you’ve had your first fight, and you’ve survived it, you can focus on the person you’re with, and not the idea of the person you’re with. Mick Owar from Clean Skin Parlour offers his advice. "You know how you meet the perfect person, and you literally walk around with love hearts coming out of your head all day long? Yeah, that's the honeymoon period. Often this perfect point in your life will feel quite magical for between 3-6 months. The sex is great and everything, in general, is just amazing. If you're still in this phase, it's not going to offer you a place of clarity whether your partner is the right person to move in with or not. Besides, whats the rush? Just enjoy what you have and wait until you're both extremely comfortable with each other. Otherwise, you're going to have a hard time moving all your stuff out and find yourself a new property, should you break up. It's just a hell of a lot smarter and way easier to give it a little more time, pay a little more money in rent or whatever you're currently doing and not need to backtrack and break hearts." You Feel Comfortable Discussing Expectations
Julia Knowland from Whole Heart Relationships shares her advice. “The best sign to know if you're ready to move in together is when both of you feel comfortable with the decision and are able to talk openly about expectations. The success of a relationship relies on how the couple relate to each other. If you can't talk about how you're planning on paying bills and negotiate cleaning and cooking. How are you going to be able to discuss bigger issues when they arise? Living with someone isn't always easy and often couples move in together assuming that they have they same expectations. Usually a good rule of thumb is to get to know the other person through all the seasons. Wait 12 months, get to know what they're like when they're tired or stressed. How do they handle conflict, do they raise their voice, walk away? Do they have an outstanding credit card debt that drives you crazy because you're very financially responsible? These aren't necessarily deal breakers for moving in together but they will impact the harmony of the house. Knowing how you'll tackle these issues will help resolve them quickly.” Find out more about Whole Heart Relationships by following them on Facebook and Instagram.
Saving Money Is Great, But It’s Not Just About That
Yeah, moving in with your partner would mean that your rent load would be cut in half, but it’s not only about that. You want to move in together, it’s not just about the money.
You’re Better Together
Michele Peppler from Soulful Connections Coaching for Life & Love & Change shares her advice. “When you come together you are the best version of you as individuals and work well as a team, rather than being 'less' of yourself. You have each other's back & are willing to face life's challenges and experiences together as a solidified unit whilst still maintaining your own sense of individuality. If you're changing things about yourself, limiting yourself, choosing to not do certain things or not being who you are because you are worried about how the other person will react or what they'll think a) it's not sustainable - when you live together there's nowhere to hide from who you really are! And why would you want to be with someone who 's only in love with an idea of who you are anyway!” Find out more about Michele by following her on Facebook.
