Ah, trends. Trends these days are fleeting, and it’s changing every time we scroll through Instagram. So, with all these trends flying at us, it’s hard to keep a grasp on most of them. Let’s dissect, the good, the bad, and the confusing trends that we’re chucking in 2018, and the ones we can see on the horizon.
So, What’s In?
Silver is the new black, according to pretty much every fashion website out there. Whether it be with a pair of silver mules or a new silver kitchen tap from MyDeal, it is the metallic shade to keep your eye on!
Dripping In Jewel Tones
Now, of course, colour is a trend we’re going to see in 2018, as we see it every year. However, embracing deep shades of navy, and other jewel tones in the home and on your back is the next big thing. We’ve already seen a huge wave of ruby shades sweep stores, and we’re seeing amber yellows slipping their way through, too. When it comes to interiors, a statement sofa lounge online is the way to indulge in this trend.

“The style of minimalism isn’t going anywhere in 2018. Though it is taking a less structured appearance, 2018 will be focusing more on the idea of ‘Wabi-sabi’. ‘Wabi-sabi is the quintessential Japanese aesthetic. It is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. It is a beauty of things unconventional, (Koren, 1994) Typically you need to find the perfection in the imperfection. Easier said than done, but start with accepting that your home does not need to reflect a showroom. Instead, it should reflect yourself. I call this the authentic approach to living. Embracing wabi-sabi in your home starts with avoiding symmetry while styling, odd numbers work extremely well. Ornaments and accents with texture, imperfections, and organic formations aid in character and experience. Think of anything that helps you live in your home, no matter how eclectic or disorderly.” Find out more about Imperio Design by following them on Facebook and Instagram.

“Fashion trends come and go so quickly with the mass saturation we now see on a daily basis! Some are better than others and there are a few that we will definitely be ditching come 2018! The first one to go is the skin tight, skin colour outfits! This was such a no-no when it first surfaced, and I must say, I was never a fan! There is nothing flattering about wearing a skin colour 2 piece tracksuit! Kitten Heels are the next on the flick list, although they (sort of) have their place in the corporate world, they are such an awkward shoe! Popular in mid-2017, they were huge on the street style circuit but quickly disappeared soon after- the design is awkward and uncomfortable to wear and just doesn’t do too much to add height or style to an outfit, let's hope they don’t make a comeback in 2018! Finally, wearing real activewear in public, this has got to go! Luckily this year there were so many brands that saw the niche in the market for athleisure wear! It’s a little more stylish, a little more casual and a whole lot less “just came from the gym look”. Wearing real gym style clothes out of the gym is getting a little cringe-worthy and this trend has GOT TO STOP!” Find out more about The Stylist Mama by following her on Facebook and Instagram.
MyDeal Is Saying Bye To:
Please, can we say goodbye to this trend? Alongside mermaids, this trend has seen an influx of social media and in fashion, so it’s been pretty hard to avoid. From unicorn makeup brushes to unicorn food, this trend has completely taken over, leaving a trail of glitter in its wake. This trend has to end soon. Let’s leave unicorns to the Scottish, thanks.
