Are you feeling that your kitchen needs a bit of a makeover, but don’t want to break the bank doing it? There are a few super easy ways to breathe fresh life into it that don’t cost an arm and a leg.
Add A Pop Of Colour
Sometimes all you need is a small pop of colour. Steve Jovcevski from Mozo offers some helpful ways to spice up your kitchen, without coughing up your savings. “Updating any out-dated appliances in your kitchen from the fridge to the dishwasher is an effective way to modernise your kitchen and improve buyer appeal without splashing thousands of dollars on a full kitchen makeover. You can also use this as an opportunity to accessorise, for instance, if you have an all white kitchen, make it pop by adding a toaster in a bold colour.” You can find out more helpful tips and tricks by following Mozo on Facebook.
Laminate Your Life
Installing laminate floors is way easier than you would think. You don’t need to be an apprentice tradie to do it, and you don’t have to smash the piggy bank to get there. In order to install laminate floors, check the levels. You can do this with a laser level. Then install the underlay, and begin laying down each piece of laminate. Snap them together, making sure that each joining board is in line with each other, and not overlapping. This can take some time, so make sure you take it slow. You don’t want to rush and then make it look horrible. Be wary around doors, install some shoe moulding and you’re done. Laminate is a great alternative to re-tiling your floors, and it’s way cheaper. Your kitchen will look brand new afterwards, I promise.
Jasmine Boothey, the owner of Bargain Mums, says that laminating can be the way to upgrade a kitchen. “If the cabinets, doors and benchtops just need an update, there are laminate and benchtop paints that can transform the look of the kitchen for a fraction of the price of a new install. If appliances need replacing, search for an old model stock that is simply cheaper because a new range has been released. If you do need new cabinets, consider going for the DIY option and installing them yourself.” You can find more tips from Bargain Mum by following her on Facebook and Instagram.
I Love A Foreign Accent Piece
Sometimes it’s the smallest changes that can make a huge difference. Swap out your light fixture and replace it with a modern pendant light. Swapping out old and replacing it with new items, even the smallest items, can be all you need to amp up your kitchen.
Paint It, Paint It Real Good
You can add fresh life to any kitchen space by adding a lick of paint. Any colour can make a difference, and you can paint anywhere! Can You Handle This?
You can even make smaller and more subtle changes to your kitchen, which will amp up the volume in your space. Swap out your old handles and replace them with some new, modern ones. You may need to get your hands on some power equipment, but it takes very little effort to do this task. What’s more, you can get handles at amazing prices, so you don’t have to fork out thousands of dollars to spice up your kitchen.
