Many of those cheaper wines, Villa Maria included, are brought in by Parallel Importers and more often than not the stock is distressed stock - a failed export order - sitting in hot warehouses for up to 6 months at a time. You might think you are getting a bargain but what you are getting is tantamount to second hand stock. Stock that is not fresh nor sanctioned by the Winery nor the genuine importers

    The superb vintage and beautifully balanced vineyards produced grapes which were harvested at varying levels of ripeness over a five week period, providing for an array of flavours and blending options. The fruit was crushed, pressed and settled for 24 hours before being racked clean off press solids for fermentation
