Finding a dressform that exact matches your body can be difficult, because we are all unique. That is why we here at Janome Sewing Centre recommend selecting a dress form that can be adjusted to a size that is just smaller than your measurements and use padding on the dress making model so that it truly matches your form.

How to add padding to your Dressform:

1. Take your measurements and adjust the dress form to as close to your measurements as possible. Should you need to add adding to your form, adjust those measurements in slightly, so that the batting can be wrapped around the form to perfectly fit you (attach the batting with pins or tape).
2. Place a bra (that fits you perfectly) onto the dressform and fill it with padding to as closely mimic the actual shape of the bust as possible. If you are using bra straps, it can be fruitful to add shoulder pads to your dress form to replicate the shoulder-to-bust apex.
3. Measure the form again, and compare to your measurements. A good way to do this is to put on articles of clothing that you commonly wear and see how it fits the dress form. This step allows you to see not only if the clothing fits the form, but how it 'flows' when worn. Adjust the padding as necessary.
4. Time to sew up a storm.
