The Tayne is the second installment of the Travel Retail Legends series. Each expression is named after a legendary figure from the Highlands. Amontillado Sherry casks were used to finish this whisky. With hints of rose and roasting chestnuts, the aroma is fragrant and floral. There's a lot of caramel, sweet apricots, and a nuttiness to it. Further investigation reveals muscovado sugar, coffee hints, and chocolate-coated raisins. The palate has an oily, warming texture that leads to rich, sweet flavors of toffee, brown sugar, tropical fruits, and a light nuttiness that reminds me of walnuts or Brazil nuts. The finish is long and spicy, with bittersweet citrus and dried fruits on the palate.
