2016 Oliver's Taranga Shiraz
Hearty stuff. This is like getting a big cuddle from your big and burly Uncle Bob.
Upon opening it was like a caged lion - in your face. The Tony Abbott shirt fronting type (not that big Tone ever follows through with his words). Politics and wine reviews don't mix. Moving on...
Bold dark fruit plus dark chocolate on the 70% cocoa side. Blackberries and mulberries walk at ease with star anise chipping away before ribs of tannin roll in. The generosity is what makes this wine so appealing and inviting.
Over two days of tasting it continued to soften. Some more time in bottle will see it shine furthermore. Interestingly cedar and caramel were prominent on the first day but dissolved to be almost invisible on the second.
This is cold night big food and big cuddle sort of stuff. Me likey.
Drink 2019 to 2027.

2015 Oliver’s Taranga Shiraz
This is a shiraz for those who like their reds rich plush and more-ish. A result of a low cropping warm year. The wine is brimming with juicy dark fruits - blackberries dark plums and spice. The palate is completely delicious and I love the nuances of liquorice and chocolate. Ripe tannins integrated acidity and balance

Olivers Taranga Vineyards McLaren Vale Shiraz 2015
Densely coloured the nose is no different with it's blackberry fruit and dark chocolate aromas and a lick
of vanillin from the oak. The palate is equally concentrated and the wine is balanced structured and long. Nice wine.

2015 Oliver’s Taranga McLaren Vale Shiraz
This wine is regional to a tee and the powerful vibrant blackberry fruit is greatly enhanced by fine savoury tannins. It’s a delightfully opulent red that can be enjoyed now or over the next ten years.

Oliver’s Taranga Vineyard Shiraz 2015
Big generosity in a fresh modern take on old vine McLaren shiraz bridging the divide between skinny new-school and traditional styles. The mid-palate is soft but has a long line. There’s depth of flavour but also immediate approachability. It’s a well-made crowd-pleaser and as an entry level to the impressive Oliver’s Taranga brand it represents superb value for money.
