Cleaning
Delirium Ideas knives are high-quality knives, which you will be able to enjoy using for a very long time. With the right care and the right storage you can help to ensure this is the case.
Care Tips
- It is best to clean your knives straight after you have used them,
- Wash them in warm water using a damp cloth and dishwashing soap,
- Dry them carefully, and,
- Store them appropriately (you’ve purchased a great knife block, best practice to use it)
- All knives must be used on wooden or polypropylene chopping / cutting boards. Stainless steel, ceramic or marble boards may result in poor performance or damage to knife edge.
Washing your DI knives in a commercial dishwashers?
If you are really pushed for time, your Delirium Ideas knives are suitable for cleaning in the dishwasher. However, it is recommended that you do not wash your knives in a dishwasher, glass washer or pot scrubber.
Why you should not wash your high-quality knives in the dishwasher:
- If your knives are mixed with cutlery in a basket then during the washing cycle the cutlery can rub against your knives and this can cause damage straight away or cause meniscal pits that can commence erosion.
- Stainless steel basically means just that, ‘stain-less’ If you put your knife in a dishwasher and the wash/clean program is not run straight away, any food present on the blade (spices, sauces, juices) can start to damage the stainless steel blade. Spots can form and the blades can even be damaged (corrosion).
- In many workplaces the correct amount of detergent and rinse aid used in dishwashers is not the number one priority. Incorrect amounts can cause great damage, rust particles or localised corrosion can quickly appear, these can be removed using a standard steel cleaning fluid, however it is far better not to cause this damage in the first place.
