Piranha 4WD Diff Breather Kit Offroad suit Landcruiser Prado Hilux Front Rear

A standard diff breather allows for expansion, as the diff heats, a one-way valve allows hot air out of the diff. If the transmission cools quickly, (ie: a water crossing) the air inside contracts like it's "taking a breath". Air cannot get in via the standard breather, so it now takes the line of least resistance - past the oil seals.

This is OK, but if they are underwater the diff sucks in water. (oil seals are designed to keep oil in, not water out) Piranha Diff Breathers allow doe easy access for air in and out, they are a snorkel for your 4WD transmission.

Fitting Instructions:
 

1. Locate existing factory breather on the rear diff. (If breather is screwed straight onto diff housing, this will need to be replaced with 1/4 Barb)
2. Replace with Piranha diff breather tube & using OTK clamp, crimp ears on either side to tighten.
3. Cable tie tube to chassis ensuring enough free-play in a tube for articulation.
4. Run & affix tube into position until the tube is as high as possible in the engine bay.
5. Locate existing factory breather on the front diff. (If breather is screwed straight onto diff housing, this will need to be replaced with 1/4 Barb)
6. Replace with Piranha diff breather tube & using OTK clamp, crimp ears to tighten.
7. Cable tie tube to chassis ensuring enough free-play in the tube for articulation.
8. Run & affix tube into position until the tube is as high as possible in the engine bay.
9. Mount diff breather bracket as high as possible on firewall (ensure enough clearance on filters once bonnet is closed)
10. Screw filters into brass 1/4" Barb.
11. Place barb through the bracket and fit Piranha diff breather tube to barb & secure with OTK clamp by crimping ears.
