Description:

The Piranha AOC makes using a DC/DC isolator for dual battery management a thing of the past, for many vehicles. Using the Piranha AOC in conjunction with a Piranha Dual Battery manager, DBE140S or DBE180-SX, allows you to use the full available output of the alternator to recharge your auxiliary battery/batteries while the vehicle is in use. It will also charge your main battery if you have changed to a high technology AGM style battery.

The AOC is designed To Suit Toyota Prado 120 &150 with 3L motor, To Suit Hilux with 3L and To Suit the V8 Landcruiser, with VARIABLE RATE ALTERNATORS  which up to now used a DC/DC style isolator,  which is a high cost solution and limited to the output of the DC/DC. Most times slowing down the recharge time.

SIMPLE TO USE,LOW COST,SAFE , WITH FULL VEHICLE PROTECTION. 

There are similar looking devices available that do not offer the fused protection of the Piranha AOC and are only one way.  Research and engineering have combined to provide this low cost, high technology solution, suitable for today's vehicles.

Not sure if you need an AOC?

With vehicle running, use a Multi-meter to establish Alternator output at MAIN battery. If already above (or equal to) 14.5 volts, you do not need the AOC.

What is  DC/DC?
 

This is a device like a transformer that steps up DC volts from saying 13.6V to 14.4V. Typically a rate of 10, 20 or 40 amp capacity. It is used when the alternator output volts are too low to charge say an AGM battery or to
overcome voltage drop for an auxiliary battery located in a trailer or van with a long cable length.  They can also be used to overcome low volts due to the use of a "Smar t" alternator (see note).
 

The disadvantage is the reduced charging amps and the relatively higher cost. The reduced amps is a result of operating in high temperatures and the losses incurred by stepping up the voltage. Like a hose with a nozzle, you increase the pressure but reduce the flow rate.

This Fuse should be fitted by a qualified individual. We the seller nor Piranha the manufacturer can be held responsible for failures as a result of improper fitment or use of this product. It is strongly recommended that a qualified Auto Electrician is used to fit this item.
