A projector's native resolution is simply defined as the maximum number of pixels that the machine is capable of projecting. This number will be displayed as the number of horizontal pixels by the number of vertical pixels, or the product of those two numbers. This is a fixed number, meaning that the projector physically cannot project any number of pixels greater than its native resolution. For example, an SVGA projector has a native resolution of 480,000 pixels, and will never project more pixels than that number. The maximum resolution of a projector does not refer to any physical aspect of the projector's resolution, but rather deals with the resolution of the signal that is being sent to the projector. A projector will not be able to process a signal sent from a machine with a higher resolution than the projector's maximum resolution.
