This small frame Escape WSD is the first of our new generation of Women Specific Design (WSD) Mountain Bikes and is the perfect fit for female riders looking for a versatile off-road performer suitable for a wide range of terrain including forest trails, river paths, fire roads and singletrack riding. Most Mountain Bikes are designed with a male rider in mind, yet the average female body has very different proportions which affect how a bike fits and feels. WSD is an approach to building bikes that starts from the ground up to better suit a female rider - from frame geometry to all the touchpoints, everything is reconsidered to better suit a female rider.
We've designed a more compact frame and fitted a shorter stem that better suits average female proportions and centre of mass. WSD Touchpoints - we've fitted narrower handlebars to better suit female shoulder width, and a wider saddle to suit female sit-bones. Plus we've reduced the length of the crank arm to suit shorter riders. This all adds up to a better fit and feel, meaning you can better step up to some serious off-road adventures on a feature packed bike: Lightweight Hydroformed Alloy Frame featuring compact geometry with a lower step-through style top tube and a shorter stem to better suit female riders. Suntour XCT 100mm travel suspension fork with lockout and preload adjustment to ease the bumps and improve control on the trail.
Popular 27.5" wheel size with Kenda Kadre 27.5 x 2.1" tyres for sure off-road control. Easy to use mechanical disc brakes (160mm rotors) for controlled braking and stopping power in all conditions. Lightweight and strong Alex MD17 Double wall alloy rims with stainless steel spokes and brass nipples to handle the toughest conditions and never rust. Shimano Altus 24-speed gearing to handle mixed terrain and eat up those hills.
