To win at Backgammon a player must get all 15 of their coloured "checker" pieces across one side of the board and back across the other side before the other player. At each turn players roll the dice and move their pieces according to the numbers on the dice - that's the luck part of the game. The strategy of Backgammon is down to deciding which pieces to move and when, in order to try and anticipate and block their opponents moves.
