SPITFIRE TRENCH ART MODEL PLANE
“The Spitfire looked good. It was every bit as dashing as the young men who flew it, and in flight it was as graceful as any bird… You had Mr. Churchill on the radio explaining that we'd never surrender, and above you had the Spitfire, and you couldn't help thinking: Yes, we can win this thing.” Jeremy Clarkson
With its elliptical wings and elegant nose, this iconic aeroplane took nearly eight years of constant planning, testing, building and buffering before we arrived at the shape we all know and love so dearly. The hero of the Battle of Britain and saver of the day, we can all agree that this machine definitely has soul.
This particular Spitfire effigy is modelled after an original piece of trench art from WW2. Trench art piece, more than likely created by a plane mechanic stationed in an isolated airfield in the British Isles.
Note: This item is a reproduction, carefully constructed by master artisans who employ techniques and traditions that are often centuries old. That means there may be some natural blemishes or imperfections. These are not product flaws, just part of the magic that makes each piece so unique.
