Craft distiller Koval is the first legal distillery in Chicago since Prohibition. One of the few organic whiskey producers on the market, they churn out various unique takes on American whiskey.
They focus on making unexpected spirits in a city once infamous for its bootlegging past and their classic Koval bourbon is a shining example of this. Tucked away in a charred new American oak barrel to age, millet and corn learn to complement each other, neither taking the lead. Out of the bottle, this duet opens with notes of mango chutney, while the millet renders a soft whisper of vanilla throughout. Then harmonizing, the grains sing with the sweetness of apricot custard. This pair finishes with peppery caramel, a diminuendo into a wisp of clove-spiked tobacco lingering on the tongue. Small Batch. Single Barrel. Unfiltered. Heart cut. Organic.
Designer Andrew Hellman took inspiration from a bag of loose stones found in his Swedish grandfather's liquor cabinet to come up with a modern interpretation of a centuries-old Scandinavian tradition.
Made of soapstone from Vermont in America's oldest soapstone workshop they are lovely to hold and have soft edges.
Place in the supplied muslin storage bag and put in your freezer. Add three chilled stones to your whiskey, let stand for 5 minutes and enjoy undiluted. Includes 9 stones and a muslin storage bag.
David Weeks is a New York designer initially famous for his architectural lighting creations - creations we have specified in our Architectural practice. We were pleased to see that he was turning his skill to other objects and the Cubebot is particularly charming.
Inspired by Japanese Shinto Kumi-ki puzzles, Weeks designed these sculptures as a non-traditional take on the toy robot by joining ancient Japanese traditions with contemporary toy culture. Their sturdy hardwood frames can hold hundreds of poses and when playtime is over, they each neatly fold up into unassuming cubes.
Cubebot is made of Cherry Wood measuring a height of 6.35cm when closed and 17.1cm when open.
