Great little bin perfect for the bathroom

I bought this size bin because it has a flat lid as I wanted to replace my swing lid bin which is stored below in sink cupboard but problem is it will not operate in dark, will open ok but won't close when cupboard door is closed, it must detect door as some one there? Have taken out batteries and now using it manually after fitting small knob. Otherwise it works ok as intended.
