If you’re trying to reach your goal body weight for some time, but you just can’t seem to budge those extra kilos, here are twenty weight loss hacks that can help you break that barrier!
1 - Drink More Water
You’ll read this everywhere, but water is really one of the biggest tools in the weight loss toolbox. Drink water before you eat a main meal, drink it when you’re feeling hungry and drink it when you’re bored. You can suppress hunger, feel fuller faster and keep yourself hydrated.
2 - Eat Outside
Did you know that you’re more likely to eat healthy if you’re eating outside? Sounds weird, but it’s true. At home, take your meals outside; sit on some outdoor furniture from MyDeal, and feel yourself wanting to eat healthier. The same goes with eating at a window. Studies from Cornell University have shown that if you eat near a window, you’re more likely to eat healthier.
3 - Go Shopping When You’re Full
You probably know that you shouldn’t go food shopping when you’re hungry, because you’re more likely to eat unhealthy food if you shop when you’re hungry than if you’re full. So, only go shopping when you’re not hungry and feel the effects! Casey O’Dell from Gastric Balloon Australia offers her advice. “Shop once a week. Avoid going grocery shopping daily, too much temptation. Remove the temptation - biscuits in the office kitchen or your favourite dip and cheese after work. Clear out the pantry and fridge – fill with your planned meals for the week. Limit the carb-based meals at dinner stick with ½ the plate vegetables, ¼ protein and ¼ carbs max! This can be applied to ANY meal.” Find out more about Gastric Balloon Australia by following them on Facebook.
4 - Avoid Eating at Your Computer/TV
In order to feel more satisfied, focus on what you’re eating. Eating a meal or a snack in front of a screen reduces the amount of attention you’re paying to the food itself, making you think you’re not eating as much as you are.
5 - Get More Sleep
Sleep can dramatically affect your weight. With a lack of sleep comes a release of cortisol, the stress hormone, which can trigger ghrelin, your hungry hormone, making you feel hungrier. Eek! Make sure you’re getting the perfect amount of sleep by adding a memory foam mattress topper from MyDeal on your bed, giving you the best night’s sleep. Jason Trent explains further. “Poor sleep = poor energy = poor food choices which are generally high-calorie (sugars and fats) because body is craving immediate energy. Motivation to train tends to fall as fast as your energy levels. Hitting 7+ hours will ensure you feel charged up and motivated every day.
How: I have written a blog post that contains 19 tips to fall asleep faster and stay asleep. Pick one or two and implement them tonight. If you want a quick actionable habit, I recommend the Blackout Method: make your room as dark as possible by installing blackout blinds, turning your phone face-down, turning off standby lights and implementing a screen-free buffer of at least 10 minutes before your head hits the pillow. “ Find out more about Jason Trent by following him on Facebook and Instagram.
6 - Clean From The Inside Out
Magic Barclay offers her useful advice. “Clean your colon. Weight gain and poor digestive issues can often be attributed to a buildup of toxins in your intestinal system. Colonics are great to help you clean out putrefied food, bacteria, parasites and toxins from your digestive system. Weight loss can often be reactive to the toxic load in your body. Colonics each month are great for weight loss and will help you keep a clear mind and body when you feel the physical and emotional shift of your pent up waste.” Find out more about Magic Barclay by following her on Facebook and Instagram.
7- Think About Elimination
Danni Archer from Divine Natural Health shares her advice. “Your elimination pathways are so important for weight loss! This means your skin (sweat), bladder (urine) and bowels. For optimal weight loss, ensure you are exercising to the point of sweating, drinking plenty of water to flush out your kidneys and bladder, and opening your bowels at least once per day (ideally 2-3 times per day!). If your body is trying to excrete fat from your fat cells but you're constipated, where do you think the fat goes? Right back into your body!” Find out more about Divine Natural Health by following her on Facebook and Instagram.

9- Keep Your Plate Colourful
Keeping your plate a rainbow means you’re eating healthier. Keep your plate full of colour, such as green, blues and reds, which means it’s full of fruit and veggies.
10 - Congratulate Yourself
There’s no point in doing all of this if you don’t give yourself credit, and continue to knock yourself down. If you’re trying, you’re making progress. You can’t reach your goals in a split second, these things take time. Keep encouraging yourself to push yourself harder and harder, so you can make the goal!
