This frost protection valve is designed toprotect solar collector panels from frost damage.
Andrequired to be processed by only plumber work with license to ensure correctinstallation .
The air temperature is monitored by asensitive wax filled element which reacts by opening it.
This in turn allows warm water from thesolar storage cylinder to flow through the solar collector panel and outthis device . the warm water flowing through it will eventually closethe valve seat which stops the flow. detail as below.
These valves are required to be installedin frost prone areas or areas subject to freezing (below 2°c) and must be installed facing downwards(one per panel). the valve must not contact the roof. during frosty conditionsthese valves open and allow a slow flow of water through the panels. they willautomatically close when the water temperature rises. they provide backup forthe freeze protection facility on the controller in the event of power failure.do not use thread sealants to connect the frost valves; they must be fittedusing the sealing washer supplied with the valve. note: thread sealants maycause problems with the operation of the valve.
