The alarms do not contain radioactive material in compliance with standard AS3786:2014. The alarms are individually tested before leaving the factory. All alarms are marked with certification AS3786:2014 / Serial Number and date of Manufacture. You are also able to mark each alarm with the installation date as the requirement is to replace within 10 years of installation.

• Lithium Battery Powered Photoelectric Smoke Alarm / Detector with 10 year sealed battery - Will interconnect with all other alarms in this listing. This is the standard alarm that is required for bedrooms and hallways to be compliant. Self install is legal as it is battery powered.
• Remote control - (Optional) Used to test and silence your group of alarms once installed. One required per paired group of alarms. A safe and convenient option. Comes with a wall mount. Mount inside pantry or similar for easy access when required.
• Interconnected Heat Alarm - For added protection install in your kitchen, laundry, garage or workshop, and better suited than a photoelectric alarm in these locations, and will help to reduce false alarms. Not mandatory in QLD. This alarm is compliant with STRA NSW when a Heat Alarm is required in a garage. This alarm will interconnect with all other alarms in this listing when paired.

Queensland requires that by the end of 2021 all rental properties comply with this new legislation. This also applies to any private home or unit sold from January 1st 2022. Further to this all private residencies must be compliant by January 1st 2027. There is no requirement for battery units to be installed by a qualified electrician. Battery operated detectors can be legally installed by the homeowner. You can save hundred of dollars by spending a few minutes installing each alarm.

Smoke alarms in all dwellings must:

• be photoelectric (AS 3786-2014); and
• not also contain an ionisation sensor; and
• be less than 10 years old; and
• operate when tested; and
• be interconnected with every other smoke alarm in the dwelling so all activate together.

Smoke alarms must be installed on each storey:

• in each bedroom; and
• in hallways which connect bedrooms and the rest of the dwelling; or
• if there is no hallway, between the bedrooms and other parts of the storey; and
• if there are no bedrooms on a storey at least one smoke alarm must be installed in the most likely path of travel to exit the dwelling.
• Smoke alarms must be either hardwired or powered by a non-removable 10 year battery, or a combination of both may be allowed.

Dwellings in a Class 1a building A Class 1a building is a single dwelling being a detached house; or one of a group of attached dwellings being a town house, row house or the like.

• Smoke alarms must:
• (a) be located in:
• (i) every corridor or hallway associated with a bedroom, or if there is no corridor or hallway, in an area between the bedrooms and the remainder of the building; and
• (ii) every other storey in the dwelling not containing bedrooms; and
• (b) be installed on or near the ceiling; and
• (c) comply with AS 3786, except where the use of the area is likely to result in smoke alarms causing spurious signals, any other alarm deemed suitable in accordance with AS 1670.1 may be installed provided that smoke alarms complying with AS 3786 are installed elsewhere in the dwelling, and
• (d) be powered:
• (i) from the mains electricity supply; or
• (ii) by a non-removable battery with a minimum life expectancy of 10 years that is connected to the smoke alarm; and
• (e) be interconnected, if there is more than one alarm in the dwelling.

• (a) is located on or near the ceiling, and
• (b) is a class type A1 or A2 heat alarm complying with AS 1603.3, and
• (c) is powered:
• (i) from the mains electricity supply; or
• (ii) by a non-removable battery with a minimum life expectancy of 10 years that is connected to the heat alarm; and
• (d) is interconnected to and will activate the smoke alarms required in the dwelling.
