On/off temperature : on below 2’c active and off beyond 3’c .
Intended application: solar water heaters in frost prone area.
This frost protection valve is designed to protect solar collector panels from frost damage.
And required to be processed by only plumber work with license to ensure correct installation .
The air temperature is monitored by asensitive wax filled element which reacts by opening it.
This in turn allows warm water from the solar storage cylinder to flow through the solar collector panel and out this device . the warm water flowing through it will eventually close the valve seat which stops the flow. detail as below.
These valves are required to be installed in frost prone areas or areas subject to freezing (below 2°c) and must be installed facing downwards(one per panel). the valve must not contact the roof. during frosty conditions these valves open and allow a slow flow of water through the panels. they will automatically close when the water temperature rises. they provide backup forthe freeze protection facility on the controller in the event of power failure.do not use thread sealants to connect the frost valves; they must be fittedusing the sealing washer supplied with the valve. note: thread sealants may cause problems with the operation of the valve.
