Aqua One ReefSim 4000 Wavemaker Pump (50053)
Increases gas exchange.
Moving the water in the aquarium will increase the mixing of water. This reduces dead spots where oxygen levels may be reduced.
Nutrient delivery and waste export.
Corals require moving currents to bring nutrients to them. A wavemaker will increase the efficiency of nutrient uptake. Corals need currents to shed waste products. A healthy current assists in this process.
Natural environment.
Fish in natural waterways deal with varying currents. In an aquarium, adding currents, especially varied currents will improve muscle tone and encourage natural behaviours.
Eliminate dead spots.
Wavemakers can help to reduce areas where waste tends to build up. They will keep detritus in suspension so that the filter can pick it up. They are also useful to increase circulation in the quiet spots in the aquarium.
Pulse modulation. The pump alternates between the full set flow rate and stopping completely. The length of the cycle can be adjusted using the wavelength adjustment dial.
Sine Wave modulation. The flow rate will vary from the set flow rate down to 30% and back in a smooth cycle without stopping. The length of the cycle can be adjusted using the wavelength adjustment dial.
Constant flow rate. Flow rate is set by controller and the current is constant.
Synchronised mode. Used to control multiple wavemakers with an alternating flow pattern.
