In a sport where top sires seem to get all the accolades, mare Ebony Shines has rightfully taken her place alongside them. Sired by the legendary stallion Shining Spark and out of Ebony Whiz, a Topsail Whiz daughter, the 1999 Quarter Horse has become one of the most famous Western performance broodmares. Bred by Bob Loomis and now owned by Roseanne Sternberg, she had a brief show career but her true calling has been producing champion offspring.
In 2016, Ebony Shines was Inducted into the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Hall of Fame. Two years later, the stunning palomino became the NRHA’s first ever “One Million Dollar Dam.” Ebony Shines’ offspring have amassed $1.2 million in earnings as of 2021, and have earned titles like NRHA Open World Champion, AQHA Select Amateur World Champion, and NRHA Open Futurity Co-Champion.
With Ebony Shines is her 2021 palomino filly Charlize. With her incredible bloodlines, we have no doubt that big things are in store for Charlize in the future!
