Product Description

  • With solid fuel, you can enjoy meals that recreate the atmosphere of dining in a traditional Japanese inn or restaurant.
  • The heat is retained, allowing you to enjoy your food while it's still piping hot.
  • The excellent heat retention and gentle heat distribution characteristic of cast iron allow you to enjoy cooking.
  • The pot is compatible with IH cooktops as well as direct heat.
  • The more you use it, the better the oil coats the surface, making it easier to use over time.

Preparation Before Use

  • Before using it for the first time, rinse it with water, dry it, and then add cooking oil and vegetable scraps, and stir-fry thoroughly. Afterward, wash the inside well, heat it, and then apply a layer of cooking oil before use.
  • If using the charred cedar lid, be sure to wash it thoroughly before use.

Usage Precautions

  • When you first start using the pot, the oil may not be evenly distributed, so food might stick to the surface. However, after 2-3 uses, this becomes less likely. Always apply cooking oil before using.
  • When using gas, cook over medium or low heat.
  • When using a 200V induction cooktop, avoid rapid heating and use medium heat.
  • It may not be compatible with some models of induction cooktops.
  • Do not use it in a microwave or oven.
  • Do not store food in the pot after cooking. Transfer it to another container for storage.
  • If the smell of the charred cedar lid bothers you, boil it in water with a drop of vinegar, which will help reduce the odor.
  • The thin liquid that may come out of the charred cedar lid is harmless to the human body, so please do not worry.

Care After Use

  • For cleaning, wash it well with a sponge and neutral detergent. Afterward, remove the moisture, dry it over low heat until no moisture remains, apply a thin layer of new cooking oil, wipe it with a dry cloth, and store it in a dry place.
  • Do not use steel wool or abrasive cleansers.
  • If the pot gets scorched, do not scrape it with a knife. Soak it in hot water to soften the residue, then gently remove it.

Maintenance If the Pot's Coating Peels Off

  1. Scrub off the peeled area with a hard sponge and wash it.
  2. Wipe off the moisture, then apply cooking oil to the entire interior and heat over low to medium heat until the pot reaches a high temperature.
  3. Turn off the heat and let the oil soak in until it cools.
  • The surface coating is made of safe resin. Even if ingested, it will not be absorbed by the body and will be excreted without any impact on health.
  • If the peeled area rusts, scrub it off with a hard sponge, then repeat steps 2 and 3.

Other Cautions

  • Occasionally, food may turn black due to the reaction between iron and the minerals in the ingredients, but this has no impact on health.
  • Sudden drying of the wooden lid may cause it to crack. Do not use a dishwasher/dryer for the wooden lid.
