Their traditional round barrel and large diameter 4mm wide core makes them perfect for creating naturally broad strokes, strong lines, and free, expressive drawing. Their slightly waxed texture delivers easy layering, blending and shading and the strong, break-resistant and long-lasting point make them ideal for detailed works.

The Derwent Artist Coloured Pencils excel in blending, their waxy soft texture makes them ideal for layering.  An array of intensities can be achieved depending on how much pressure is applied to the pencil, providing versatility.  Because the blending and layering are so good, you can easily create complex colour patterns or fill in the colour voids that may exist with other brands and some of the smaller set sizes. With their capacity to flawlessly blend you can create hundreds of your own colours as you wish from the Derwent Artists 36. If you feel the 36 pack is not adequate you may want the tin of 72.
