SHIELD Carbon Granule Filter (GAC) made by HAYCARB coconut shell activated carbon. The adsorptive capacity of granular activated carbon makes it ideal for removing a variety of contaminants from water. Cartridges effectively reduce unwanted tastes and odors, including chlorine taste & odor from your drinking water. These filters were designed to allow maximum contact between the water and carbon, ensuring optimal adsorption. The construction of the cartridge allows water to enter at one end and pass through the entire length of the filter housing to the other end of the cartridge. GAC Cartridges are available in a variety of sizes, flow rates and connections/fittings, and effectively provide good general-purpose drinking water filtration.

• Ultrafiltration (UF) is a separation process using membranes with pore sizes in the range of 0.1 to 0.01 micron, a low-pressure membrane process for water treatment that is designed to remove turbidity causing particles including those comprised of suspended solids, bacteria, colloidal matter, and proteins. Typically, UF membranes will remove high molecular-weight substances, colloidal materials, and organic and inorganic polymeric molecules. Because only high-molecular weight species are removed, low applied pressures are therefore sufficient to achieve high flow rates from an Ultrafiltration membrane. UF membranes have a service life of three to five years or longer, which is comparable to reverse osmosis membranes.
