The Gemini General Aviation 1/72 scale Piper J-3 Cub diecast metal model is as real as it gets and measures approximately 3.75-inches long with a 5.88-inch wingspan. Manufactured as an officially licensed product by Gemini General Aviation as a limited edition, highly collectible model, this Piper J-3 Cub - painted in Cub Yellow - Registration N6393H - has been meticulously recreated from Piper's blueprints and features realistic landing gear and detailed printed graphics, assuring the utmost accuracy and superior quality. A Display Stand is included.
The Piper Cub is one of General Aviation's most famous and classic aircraft. Initially manufactured between 1938 and 1947, more than 20,000 aircraft were built. Originally powered by a 40 horsepower Continental Flat 4 piston engine that drove a fixed pitch propeller, it was designed and appreciated for its simplicity and ease of flying. The Cub is constructed utilizing a welded steel frame with a fabric outer skin and can seat two passengers in a fore and aft position.
While production of the Cub started in the mid-1930s in Bradford, Pennsylvania as the J-2 version, the later and improved J-3 model was manufactured in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and sold for $1,000.
Many Piper J-3s were manufactured as the L-4 type military variant of the J-3 and were used to train civilians to assist during WWII. The L-4s also served in the Korean War along with different roles in the early 1950s, noting that both J-3s and L-4s have operated in military and civilian roles in countries worldwide. Post war production saw limited numbers of J-3s manufactured in Canada, Denmark, and Argentina.
To keep the tradition of the Piper Cub alive, Cub Crafters of Yakima, Washington and American Legend Aircraft of Sulphur Springs, Texas manufacture modernized and refined versions of original Cubs under various designations.

All postage and insurance costs are to be paid by the buyer except in circumstances whereby goods are damaged or goods sent in error. We recommend that you return the product via Registered Post and that you pre-pay all necessary postage. You assume any risk of loss, theft or damaged goods during transit. We, therefore, advise you take opt for shipment registration & insurance with your postal carrier. Hobbyco will not be responsible for parcels lost or damaged in transit if you choose not to insure. Be certain to return the correct goods, otherwise, if the goods received were not as discussed, Hobbyco will not cover any postage costs to send the goods back.
The sooner we are notified of a change of mind or problem with the received goods, the sooner we can resolve the issue and advise return details.
