The pitch can be varied to a level the dog is most responsive to through an adjusting screw in the back of the whistle, a locking nut fixes the adjusting screw in place and allows the pitch to be fixed. The ultrasonic whistle has a plastic outer sheath to protect the pitch adjustment and prevent accidental variances.
