The top opens with a fresh wave of artemisia, a plant with a slightly bitter edge that is also strangely soft and pleasant with hints of wormwood and a touch of vermouth. The citrusy green resin of elemi adds a lemony scent while Italian Mandarin orange enhances the citrus wave of the opening. The heart settles down into classic lines with spicy warm nutmeg, then has a bit of zest with bracing ginger root and herbal, green violet leaves. Sweet, nutty tonka bean is in the base for an elegant dry-down, along with smoky vetiver and hearty cypress for a natural sillage and moderate longevity.
