Treated subjects displayed lower levels of the liver enzymes alanine transaminase and aspartate transaminase, as well as decreased triglycerides and cholesterol, and significant weight loss. These preliminary findings suggest that berberine may indeed represent a potential new approach to treating NAFLD.
