The covering is thick, short felt (not the thin long silky fur) The poles are also thicker than many others, very sturdy platforms, the top attachment is the best I've seen yet a rubber stoper with good grip and an adjustable, can be cut pole. I bought one recently from leading supplier mydeal for same cost and it was total cheaply made garbage. My cat is 8.5kg big girl and this stays holding strong when she attacks it.

Really good quality scratching post, especially for the price. It was easy to build, it's sturdy and my cat loves it - I'm even considering getting a second one for the other side of the house, as she spends so much time on this one, staring out the window. The only thing I wish was different was ideally the very bottom and very top sections would also be scratching posts, rather than the plain carpet, but my kitty seems quite content with them just in the middle two posts.
