Compatible with Caremax Tens machine, this slim Anal probe is made from medical grade stainless stell and bio-plastic. It can be used in conjunction with most muscle stimulators to help treatment of faecal incontinence in both men and woman.

It is estimated that one in every seven men experience some form of incontinence during their lifetime. Electrical stimulation using an anal probe has been found to help retrain pelvic floor muscles and treat incontinence. It induces repeated contractions and relaxations of these muscles with a painless electric current using a probe placed into the anus. The aim is to gradually increase the muscle strength to prevent leakage and urine escaping. It can also lessen the contractions of the bladder muscle to ease the sense of urgency and allow the bladder to hold more urine.

FEATURES

  • Dual electrode rings for comfortable level of penetration
  • Made from medical grade stainless steel and bio-plastic
  • tapered end for easy insertion.
  • Compatible with a wide variety of devices as the connectors fit to standard 2mm pin connections
  • Softly curving form assists insertion and comfort in use
  • The contoured electrodes provide comfortable stimulus

 Recommended use

  • bowel / faecal incontinence
  • Improve Bladder control
  • male pelvic floor stimulation

 How to use

  • Usually easiest used in side lying but can be used lying on your back with knees bent comfortably.
  • For comfort, do not use when your rectum is full. It will be more comfortable to use when rectum is empty - after a bowel motion.
  • Use a small amount of water-based lubricant to assist insertion and contact.
  • Only insert the body of the electrode into the anus, the flange MUST remain outside the anus.
  • Due to pressure within the rectum/anus you will find it easier to gently hold the removal ring to ensure it is not pushed out of the anus.
  • It can be helpful to take a deep breath in, then out and relax as you exhale , gently bearing down through the back passge to aide insertion.
  • Anal electrodes generally slide in quite easily.
  • For best contact with the muscles to be stimulated, the electrode plates should be facing your hips (ie left and right) not your tailbone and pubic bone unless advised by your treating health professional.
  • The leads on the electrode that connect to the leads to the stimualtion machine) should be facing upwards or towards your pubic bone.
  • During a contraction of the pelvic floor muscles when the stimulation machine is active you should feel the end of the probe pulling inwards slightly
  • The sensation should be a strong buzzing type sensation, not painful. It may take you a few sessions to get used to the feeling before you can turn it up to elicit a contraction.
  • Even without a contraction being elicited initially, the sensory input of the stimulation will help to reconnect your pelvic floor with the sensory and motor cortexes in the brain.

Sterilization method (For probe):

Each probe is designed for ease of use and should last 12 – 18 months with proper care

-Never immerse your probe in boiling water or boiling liquids. This could damage your probe.

-When inserting a probe, hold its base. Do not hold it by the wires as this could damage the probe.

-Before use, always clean the probe in warm, but not boiling, soapy water.

How to clean it?

Simply rinse the insertable part under the tap, keeping the wires dry at all times, and wash with a mild soap. Do not boil the probe.

If you want to use the same probe both vaginally and anally, this is fine, but always be sure to clean the probe thoroughly.
