I bought this so my 2 year old son would stay out of the laundry but my cats could go in and out as this is where their food etc is. Unfortunately the cats are scared of the pet door as it is quite heavy. The gate itself is sturdy and easy to open with just one hand but not so easy a child can open it. Overall a good quality product. Thank you.
