Loxton Lad was created in 2009 by Patrina Nuske-Small through a cross between Rosella Purple and Orange Heirloom. The mid-season rugose regular leaf dwarf bears large, smooth oblate orange fruits that range from 250-500g, with rich, juicy flesh. Supporting the plants is vital to prevent branches from breaking under the weight of fruit. Robust foliage and sturdy stems enable the plants to reach over a meter tall by the season's end. Loxton Lad was selected and named by Patrina after appearing in an early generation of Loxton Lass. Its larger size, similar taste, and modest sweetness compared to Loxton Lass were factors in the selection of its name. The name Loxton derives from the town within the Riverland citrus-growing region of South Australia.
Sow spring & early summer at 5mm deep & 50cm apart. Germination in 5-12 days at 22-30oC. Maturity in 70 days. Determinate - Bush.
