Specifications:

The Varia VS3 is a high-performance grinder with 38mm 6-core conical burrs. The standard set of burrs is made with high nitrogen 420 stainless steel which does a fantastic job with filter and espresso grinds. Moreover, they are quite durable too! One limitation however is that these burrs tend to struggle with lighter roasts when grinding for espresso.

As a way to upgrade or match your coffee grinding needs, Varia created the Hypernova and Supernova burrs. These are titanium-coated stainless steel burrs with improved hardness, durability, and heat resistance.

Supernova

Made with a 420 stainless steel base and titanium coating, Supernova is designed for espresso grinds. The coating increases hardness to HRC60, enhances sharpness and prevents overheating. Compared to standard burrs, they offer better particle distribution, resulting in a balanced profile with medium body and clarity. Available in Black Titanium and Gold Titanium.

Hypernova

With a 440 stainless steel base and titanium coating, the Hypervona burrs handle both filter and espresso grinding. They are harder, sharper and more heat-resistant, with smoother edges for better particle size distribution and consistency. Like the Supernova, they enhance coffee clarity, offering a balanced profile with a medium body. Available only in Iridescent Titanium.

Hypernova Ultra

Designed for espresso enthusiasts, it excels in finely sized particle distribution, offering a medium body, heightened clarity, and rich flavour. Built with 440 stainless steel, it achieves an edge hardness of HRC65, which is further enhanced to HRC67 through meticulous micron-level polishing and dual titanium and thermal plasma coating. This innovative design ensures durability and precision, making it ideal for those seeking the ultimate espresso experience.

Hypernova Ultra-S

The Hypernova Ultra-S, with updated geometry, excels with lighter and denser coffee roasts. Its advanced design enhances particle size consistency, grinding faster with a tighter distribution for espresso. With an improved top-end range for finer espresso particle distribution, it ensures exceptional performance. The 440 stainless steel base, polished and dual-coated, achieves an edge hardness of HRC67. This burr delivers high clarity and a sweet body in both espresso and filter coffee, especially with medium to medium-light roasts.
