Due to its superior mechanical properties, it is also the most expensive of the 440 series and requires multiple rounds of heat treatment and cryogenic treatment. While stainless steel may have a 20% lower load capacity and slightly softer than our standard 52100 chromium steel, which is used in most bearings, it proves to be a superb alternative for use in wet conditions, frequent bike washings, or areas where sweat may pose a problem.
