A tough and durable 240w portable Baier solar panel with high spec components. These rugged solar panels from Baier are built to last. They are based around CEC-approved rooftop panels, which have been tried and tested in Australian conditions and will last 25 years through sun, hail and storms. To these they have added durable hinges, clips and handles so they will fold up into a convenient portable suitcase. This then slips inside a tough, padded carry bag for ultimate ease of transport. They are constructed only with Grade A monocrystalline solar cells from the world's top 10 manufacturers and provide highly reliable power output. Monocrystalline cells are more efficient than polycrystalline ones (more power for the same physical size), which as a definite advantage in portable panels.
The panels come as standard with Anderson plug connectors, which are considered as the gold standard for 12v connectivity. They are strong, reliable, don't come undone and won't cause you to lose lots of valuable power. If you don't want to use these, they also come with an Anderson to crocodile clip connector so you can attach the crocodile clips direct to your battery. The manufacturer sells these panels all over the world, from portable versions like these to standard rooftop panels and large power station installations. The rooftop panels they are based on are CEC approved (portable ones can't be), which means they are tested to Australian standards and approved for use in home installations. They are German TUV certified and have CE approval. They also test every cell before manufacture and every panel both during and after manufacture to ensure quality. How much power will this panel provide? In theory a 240w panel at 13v will provide 18.5A. Charging in full sun over an 8 hour day would therefore provide 148Ah of power, or nearly enough to charge a 150Ah battery from empty (not that you should ever let your battery get close to empty!). However your system will never be 100% efficient and sunshine is never completely reliable so we would suggest reducing this by 25-30% to give you a fair estimate. That gives you around 110Ah of power per day. On average you might expect a medium-sized fridge to draw 70Ah of power per day in reasonable temperatures (2.9A x 24 hours), and lights to draw another 3-4Ah. A phone charge might be 3Ah, a full iPad charge can be 10Ah. So with this panel you could expect to maintain your battery at full charge and run a reasonable number of other appliances. If you run more appliances - say a TV, microwave, fan, etc. - then you might start to eat into your full battery charge a little every day. So you need to consider how big your battery is, how much power you are planning to use, and how many days you can afford to do that before it will run too low.
