Olay was invented by Graham Wulff by an ex-Unilever employee. Wulff initially made the Oil of Olay for his wife; he wanted to create something that would leave her skin beautiful and moist. In the early 50’s in Wulff in his South African home laboratory started producing this miracle oil and packed it in an elegant bottle. Within a few years the Oil of Olay became a huge success in South Africa. In 1959 the company expanded into US, England, Netherlands, Germany and Canada. P&G bought the brand in the ’80s, and renamed it Olay. So in 1999, what was called Oil of Ulay in the UK, Oil of Olaz in other European countries and Oil of Ulan in Australia, became known as Olay around world.
