Panasonic, formerly known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. is a Japanese multinational electronics corporation headquartered in Kadoma, Osaka, Japan. Panasonic was founded by Konosuke Matsushita in 1918. Konosuke was born on November 27, 1894 as the youngest child in a family of five daughters and three sons. As a young boy he was fascinated about the electrical business. Towards the age of 22 Matsushita designed an improved light socket, but was soon discouraged by his supervisor claiming it was useless. However determined Matsushita later setup a shop in a tiny two-room tenement in eastern Osaka with his wife and brother-in-law. They eventually produced a new socket, at first the sales were zero, however they unexpectedly got an order from a large manufacturer, and repeated orders followed. Today the company has grown to become one of the largest Japanese electronics producers alongside the electronic giants.
