Researchers examined data from 31 studies involving almost 1,300 adults to analyze the effects of sugar on alertness and mood. After analyzing the data, they concluded the following:

Sugar consumption has no effect on improving mood, regardless of how much sugar is consumed or whether subjects engaged in demanding activities.
People who consumed sugar actually felt more tired and less alert 60 minutes later compared to those who had not consumed sugar.
