3 Ways as How to Fill a Punching Bag

1. With a Folded Filling
Step1 Take the scissors and cut out any zips and buttons. You don't want anything that can damage the bag from the inside out.
Step2 Fold clothing into squares and place in the bottom of the bag.
Step3 Ensure that every gap is filled in the bag as you progress up.
Step4 Knock in any lumps using the side of your hand.

2. With Sand (for someone wants a heavier bag)
Step1 Some people like to use sand for extra weight. It is not a good idea to have sand at the bottom of the bag as it can harden and can cause injury. Also, you don't want to pour the sand directly into the bag.
Step2 Fill half the bag with old clothing. This stops the sandbags sagging straight to the bottom and developing a rock-like feel.
Step3 Place a plastic bag inside another for extra support. Carefully pour or scoop silver sand a plastic carrier bag, to about the size of a 1kg bag of sugar. Once you have the approximate size, tie the end of the bag and wrap the loose plastic around the sandbag. Use duct tape to tie it up.
Step4 Fill the punching bag. Once you have several sandbags, place them carefully in the middle of the punching bag, ensuring that they are totally surrounded by at least three inches of packed clothing/rags. The textiles should stop the bags from splitting inside the bag from the force of punches.
Step5 Adjust as needed. If the bag is too heavy or you decide to make lighter in the future, just unzip the top of the bag and individually take the plastic bags of sand out until you get the desired weight.

3. With Sawdust Filling
Step1 Tightly fill the first third of the bag with clothing or rags.
Step2 Place a rubble sack inside the punching bag.
Step3 Scoop sawdust into the rubble sack until it gets fills up and touches the sides of the punching bag.
Step4 Twist and tape end. Use additional rubble sacks if needed. Don't scoop or pour sawdust directly into the punching bag.
