On the hour the clock strikes a coil gong corresponding to the time shown. So at 2 o'clock for example, you will hear the clock strike two times.

The heavy solid american cherry stained door with visual glass for the dial is a strong feature and well known for this style of clock. This is a mechanical clock and requires winding every week, simply by inserting a key into the holes in the dial and winding the springs until they are tight again. The strike, played on a coil gong, is an "old world" sound with lovely charm and remembered as "that sound from my grand parents house".

Manual night-time shut-off is enabled by lifting and pulling a lever. Built by skilled craftsmen and featuring a high quality German movement this clock is 40cm from top to bottom.
