ORNAMENTAL VINTAGE HOT AIR BALLOONS
In September 1784, 150 000 Englishmen assembled to watch their very first hot air balloon flight. The pilot in charge was a dashing Italian named Vincent Lunardi who fitted the balloon with oars so that he could row through the air. He figured out pretty quickly that that was not going to work.
Pay homage to Lunardi and his fellow founders of fanciful flight with these decorative hot air balloons. The baskets are made of real wicker, exactly the same as you would find attached to any hot air balloon today. The hard surface, hollow balloon with its string netting emanates the vintage appeal of the pioneering balloons of the 1700s. Hang them in a nursery for a touch of whimsy, in an office for some colourful vintage charm, or anywhere in your home that’s in need of a dash of antique appeal.
Note: This item is a reproduction, carefully constructed by master artisans who employ techniques and traditions that are often centuries old. That means there may be some natural blemishes or imperfections. These are not product flaws, just part of the magic that makes each piece so unique.
