P-51 MUSTANG - TRENCH ART MODEL PLANE
In 1944, a commander of the 8th Air Force, Major General James Doolittle, had enough of the Germans ruling the skies of WW2. He instructed his air force of Mustangs to seek out and attack the Luftwaffe; the hunted had become the hunters. The men sprang into action, and the nimble Mustang became a serious thorn in the Axis side. The Luftwaffe lost 17% of its fighter pilots in just over a week and Germany ultimately lost the air war. Thousands of Messerschmitts and Focke-Wulfs fell from the sky and the Mustang solidified its place as a hero of WW2.
Pay homage to this brave little fighter with this trench art replica of the 1940s P-51 Mustang. Made from re-cycled aeroplane aluminium, its heart will always be flying high at 15 000 feet above our heads. This handsome war-bird is the perfect gift for any appreciator of modern history or collector of iconic aviation memorabilia. Stand it on a desk, side table or shelf and add a splash of classic class to any room.
Note: This item is a reproduction, carefully constructed by master artisans who employ techniques and traditions that are often centuries old. That means there may be some natural blemishes or imperfections. These are not product flaws, just part of the magic that makes each piece so unique.
