We hear you asking, is this better than a standard DVR? In one word - Absolutely. The normal DVR's can capture practical footage, however lack detail. These new 3 Megapixels systems allow you to read finer details, including wording on signs and number plates during the day. Edges of buildings, cars, and people look extremely sharp. You are going from around 0.3MegaPixels on the analogue DVR's to 3 Megapixels with the 7300 series NVR. Therefore, images are much clearer. NVR means Network Video Recorder: It sends the image as data from the camera to the recorder allowing for very high definition video signals such as 1080P (1920 x 1080 Pixels) and higher. Usually requires only 1 cable - either a Cat5e or Cat6 Cable (recommend Cat6 where possible). The downside is that this uses much more data and requires larger hard drive sizes however this is a small price to pay for quality CCTV video footage. Maximum cable distance is around 70-100mtrs without a network switch.
