Vintage Sabatier Knives Set 5x Factory Reject Made In France

Those knives were rejected from production line and come with a few imperfections but nothing to compromise the knife. It’s a beautiful set and in really good condition. This lot acquired in a auction in Thiers and they need to be finished to be used.

Sabatier knives are made by hand, using techniques that are a fusion of old and new ways. They have everything you’d come to expect from the French: exceptional quality, solid construction…and a bold, striking design.

This knife is Fully forged that means that three of the four knife parts (blade, bolster, tang and handle) are forged from a single piece of steel. In this process, a single cylinder shaped steel billet is heated where the bolster will be, and squeezed from the ends to create a bulge. The entire piece is heated again and forged to the shape of the blade, bolster, and tang using forging dies in one operation. Afterward, a clipping tool is used to cut the forged piece to the rough shape of the knife. Finally, the handles are riveted on, and the final shaping and sharpening is done by hand. The alternative way to manufacture knives is stamping; forging has traditionally been considered superior, but from the late 20th century some knives of excellent quality have been produced by stamping.

The blade is fully forged from the high quality French steel. This steel gives superior edge retention, strength, and wear resistance. The handles are made from ABS, a super tough, rigid and wear resistant plastic. They are attached to the full tang blade with distinctive large brass rivets.

obs: keep in mind it’s a lot and maybe depending of the lot maybe will have a few different marks on the blades. But all knives are in same conditions.
